Briefing.com Economist Named a Top Forecaster for Fourth
Consecutive Year
CHICAGO, IL - March 21, 2007 – Briefing.com Chief Economist, Timothy
Rogers, has been named a top economic forecaster by
USA Today for 2006. He is
the only economist to place in the top ten each of the past four years,
surpassing all other Wall Street economists and independent forecasters.
Rogers, who has been analyzing and forecasting economic, Federal Reserve and
Treasury information since 1987, ranks number nine this year. Richard DeKaser,
chief economist for National City, ranks number one and Stuart Hoffman, chief
economist for PNC Financial Services Group, ranks number two.

USA Today, which has more readers than any newspaper in the country, uses
statistical methods to assess the joint accuracy of the predictions, scoring
each on a percentage basis of how similar the quarterly forecast was to the
actual outcomes of the economy.
The economists, whose identities were unknown to those gathering the data,
received four scores - one for each quarterly survey - and were ranked on the
average of those scores.
