AAPL -7.0%, INTC +3.9%, YHOO +2.8% Following Earnings/Guidance; PWAV -31.5% (Lowers guidance)
Stocks extended their prior session slide in the opening minutes of trade, but a combination of technical support and leadership from financials led stocks back to higher ground. The effort was extended in response to word that eurozone officials agreed to boost bailout funds, although that story was called into question at the close.
After the close, FSII, SONC, AAPL, CCK, CSX, FULT, INFN, ISRG, MRTN, PTP, RNST, URI, WCN, YHOO, INTC, PNFP, RLI,WERN, SON, HA, JNPR, LLTC, PWAV and CREE are the only notable name scheduled to report earnings results.
Futures are lower after hours: S&P 500 futures are -4.17 from fair value of 1220.77 and Nasdaq100 futures are -20.26 from fair value of 2360.26.
Tomorrow morning before the open, three economic reports are scheduled to be released: 1) MBA Mortgage Index (Consensus NA), 2) CPI (Consensus 0.3%) and Core CPI (Consensus 0.2%) and 3) Housing starts (Consensus 595K) and Building permits (610K).
